Gary Leifer, M.D., F.A.C.S., has been a part of Walsh Urology Associates for a few years and is on staff at Eisenhower Medical Center. Previously he practiced in Kansas City where he founded and has served as president of Kansas City Urology Care, an 18 physician urology group, for the past 10 years. He has over 25 years of experience in a very broad range of urologic care, and covers all urologic diseases other than pediatrics.
Dr. Leifer is a member of the American Urological Association and the American Association of Clinical Urologists.
After completing his undergraduate studies at Stanford University, he earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa as an undergraduate, and Alpha Omega Alpha, the equivalent honorary medical society, as a medical student. He received the C.V. Mosby award for academic excellence at Johns Hopkins as well.
Dr. Leifer then returned to the Midwest. He spent his first two post graduate years in general surgery at Barnes Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis, and the University of Kansas. He then completed his urology residency at the University of Kansas. He has been board certified since 1986 and has served on the clinical faculty of the University of Kansas.
Dr. Leifer has published many articles in the urology literature and has been an investigator in numerous clinical studies. This was fostered by a lengthy experience in basic science research under the supervision of Dr. Donald Coffey and Dr. Patrick Walsh at Hopkins.
He enjoys providing comprehensive urologic care in the Coachella Valley.
